Speck is a traditional cured meat from South Tyrol, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region of northern Italy. It is a lightly smoked and cured ham made from the hind leg of the pig. The production combines salting techniques, light smoking with beech wood, and open-air aging, giving it a unique, aromatic, and slightly spicy flavor. Speck is extremely versatile in the kitchen: it can be enjoyed on its own, in appetizers, or used as an ingredient in dishes like pasta, salads, and sandwiches.
